Description
Vector map showing the relief of Algeria and its main geographical feature. We found the Atlas mountains (the northern called the Tell Atlas, and the south, called the Saharan Atlas). Between the two is the interior plateau. South of the Sahara desert begins Saharan Atlas which occupies most of the country and has a varied relief. From the coast to interior can be distinguished: small coastal plains, among which the Mitidja (Algiers) Chéliff valley below, and the basins of Oran, Skikda and Annaba, the Tell, the Highlands, with its depressions, covered in part of salty lakes, and the Saharan Atlas, and the desert. Algerian rivers retain a quasi-regular flow only in the mountainous north and suffer a strong summer drying. No river Algeria is navigable, even those in the north, they usually have the lower section muddy, but are used for irrigation. Algeria's main river is the river Chéliff in the north.
