Description
Colombia has four main drainage systems: the Pacific drain, the Caribbean drain, the Orinoco Basin and the Amazon Basin. The Orinoco and Amazon Rivers mark limits with Colombia to Venezuela and Peru respectively. Rivers confined to Colombia: The main rivers of the Caribbean drain are Atrato, Cauca, Magdalena, Nechí and Sinú. In the Pacifice Drain are Baudó, Patía, and San Juan. In the Orinoco Basin are Guaviare, Inírida, Meta, and Vichada. And in the Amazon Basin are Apaporis and Caguán. On th other hand, Rivers originated in Colombia are: Catatumbo, Arauca, Caquetá, Guainía, Putumayo River and Vaupés. The main lakes are: Ciénaga Grande de Santa Marta, La Cocha Lagoon and Lake Tota.
