The Middle East is a region that encompasses Western Asia and North Africa. It is often used as a synonym for Near East, in opposition to Far East. The corresponding adjective is Middle-Eastern and the derived noun is Middle-Easterner. The term 'Middle East' serves to name a geographical area, but has no precise boundaries. The most common definition includes: Bahrain, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Somalia, Syria, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, Yemen and the territories controlled by the Authority Palestinian (Gaza Strip and some West Bank). Egypt and the Sinai Peninsula in Asia, often considered part of the Middle East, although most of the territory is geographically in North Africa.
