During the visit to Cuba, the president of Netmaps signed an agreement with the Ministry of Education of the Cuban Government (Mined) to create a World Map (30,000 copies) for distribution in the country’s educational centers at the beginning of the next school year. They also agreed to create an informative booklet as a Pedagogical Guide for the Country’s Teachers, and to provide technical training for the personnel of the state-owned company Geocuba, which is dedicated to digital and educational cartography in Cuba. Netmaps, among other things, “promotes the dissemination and promotion of cartography in various countries around the world”. Currently, they are working on projects in countries in the Americas, such as Cuba, and in Asia. In the initial stage, Netmaps is working to provide School Wall Maps for free for the most needed countries, mainly of the country or the world, with the official place names and characters of each. The Wall Maps are distributed in schools and are subsidized by Netmaps in collaboration with Spanish companies present in those countries.
